About Our Program

The Youth-N-Action STEAM Program is a six-week initiative aimed at providing at-risk youth with access to comprehensive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The program will serve youth in underserved communities, offering hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, and exposure to careers in STEAM fields. The goal is to empower participants with practical skills, enhance their academic success, and inspire future career paths. With this grant, Youth-N-Action aims to engage students entering grades 5-8, helping them develop the critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills needed for future success.

Our Mission

The mission of the Youth-N-Action STEAM Program is to empower at-risk youth through exposure to STEAM education, fostering academic achievement, creativity, and lifelong learning. By offering a supportive and engaging learning environment, the program aims to inspire participants to pursue careers in STEAM fields and become confident, future-ready individuals.

OBJECTIVES

To inspire curiosity and foster critical thinking in young students
To integrate the arts with traditional STEM subjects, highlighting the importance of creativity in innovation
To provide a safe, supportive environment for learning and self-expression
To help students develop teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills

GOALS

Increase participants' interest and engagement in STEAM subjects by 20% as measured by pre- and post-program surveys.
Develop participants' practical skills in coding, engineering, and creative problem-solving.
Provide participants with at least two field trips to local STEAM companies or organizations.
Offer mentorship opportunities with STEAM professionals to help students explore career pathways.

KEY COMPONENTS

Hands-on Learning: Each week will involve activities such as science experiments, technology challenges (coding, robotics), engineering projects, arts integration, and real-world math applications.
Mentorship: STEAM professionals will serve as mentors, providing guidance, career advice, and support for participants. Mentors will be available for both group sessions and one-on-one discussions.
Field Trips: The program will include field trips to local organizations, such as science centers, technology companies, and engineering firms, where students can see STEAM principles in action.
STEAM Showcases: At the end of the program, students will present their final projects in a STEAM showcase for their families and the community.
